So, today’s makeup lesson is about a trick that is a favorite among a number of makeup artists. Pastel lips are the current fad-they are used to give the lips a soft feminine touch and also to lift your whole makeup! So, if you are bored of the same bright pinks, reds and oranges, then you are going to absolutely love this tutorial.

Step 1:

Start by applying lip balm to hydrate your lips. If you have very dry and flaky lips, then I recommend using a lip scrub prior to the use of a lip balm. A lip scrub eliminates deep flakes, dryness and chapped bits of skin from the lips and makes lipstick application easy to give a flawless finish. Then, apply foundation and concealer all over your lips to start with clean lips. Layer compact powder over it to stop creasing of the products applied.

Then, pick a creamy hot pink lip color and apply it on your lips. Use a thin lip brush or your fingers and pat the product all over your lips with a very thin layer. I used the Mua lipstick in the shade number 3 for this step. If you do not have a creamy formula lipstick, don’t worry! You can always use a creamy lip balm like the Maybelline Baby lips or Nivea Fruity Shine lip balm over the hot pink lip color base for this step. It is best to use a hot pink lip liner prior to the application of the lipstick as it will help in creating an even finish on the lips.

Now, pick a light color concealer and start roughly placing it on your lips. You can use a cream based or liquid concealer for this step as both of them helps in easy blending of the product. Do not layer the concealer all over your lips, but start with a light hand. First apply a small amount of the product, blend it out and then if you want a more intense pastel lip look, you can reapply a little more of the concealer. Start applying on the upper portion of your lips and then apply it to the lower lip area.

Then, take a thin lip brush or use your index or ring finger to softly smudge the concealer to create an even base. The concealer and the hot pink lipstick should be evenly blended. It should not appear like two different products have been applied to create this look. Then, you can apply a transparent lip gloss to get a glossier and luscious lip effect. If you don’t prefer glossy lips and if you are more of a matte lip person, then go ahead for another step to get your perfect matte pastel lips.

To remove the glossiness and shine from your lips, pick a matte pale pink blush and apply it all over your lips. This trick will instantly turn your lips completely matte and fresh.
