How To Make An Eyebrow Mousse?

Let’s learn the steps to make the eyebrow mousse, all by yourself:

Step 1:

Start with clean hands. Sanitize them to avoid transferring any bacteria to our eyebrow mousse. Then, take some dark brown eyeshadow, which matches your natural eyebrow hair color. Though our natural eyebrow hair might appear black, it is not ideal to use only pure black eyeshadow for making the eyebrow mousse, as it will give a flattering and unnatural look.

The dark brown eyeshadow needs to have a matte finish as shimmery formulas will not help in defining your eyebrows. Don’t forget to check the expiry date of your eyeshadows before making the eyebrow mousse. I have used a matte dark brown eyeshadow from the Avon eye shadow palette in Mocca to make the eyebrow mousse.

Gently start scrapping your dark brown eye shadow using a clean cotton ear bud or a toothpick. Then transfer the loose eyeshadow powder into the storage container. Eyeshadows have a soft powder formula, so they will easily break with a cotton swab. If it doesn’t break, then you can use a blunt knife to break it. The storage container has to be well sanitized to avoid any bacterial accumulations. Just clean it with a mild detergent solution or spray some rubbing alcohol to clean the storage container. I used an old lip balm jar to store my eyebrow mousse.

If you are making the eyebrow mousse for the first time, it is best to take only small amounts of eyeshadow to check whether the end swatch matches with your natural eyebrow color to avoid any wastage. The amount of eyeshadow to be taken for making eyebrow mousse totally depends upon your requirement. Now, take some dark matte black eyeshadow and repeat the same process of scrapping it into the container.

Then, take a small amount of your face or eye primer and add it to the brown and black eyeshadow mixture. This step is completely optional, but it is best to use a primer as it will increase the longevity of your eyebrow mousse by preventing creasing or budging of the formula.

Now, add a small amount of Vaseline to the mixture for creating a mousse-like consistency. You can also use refreshing eye drops, instead of Vaseline to make the eyebrow mousse.

Then, take a clean eyeliner brush or cotton swab and start mixing the ingredients to form a mousse-like soft consistency. Mix it for 20 to 30 seconds to avoid any clumps in the formula.

The American writer summed it up aptly, summer is one of the most beautiful times in a year. The whole world seems to be full of possibilities in the sultry summer days. At the same time, summer brings its own set of skin related issues. We need to look after our skin and our skin will reward us by being healthy and luminous.

Skin Care in Summer – Common Problems and Solutions:

Summer is the season which brings number of skin problems. Let us look at the 5 common summer skin care issues and the measures to tackle them:

1.  Sun Tan And Sun Burns:

The skin gets more exposure to the harsh UV rays of the sun during summer. This leads to redness and inflammation. Exposure to sun can also lead to basal cell melanoma.

Prevention:

Cover up even when the weather is cloudy. Opt for a wide brimmed hat to provide ample coverage to your face. Choose scarves for lightweight protection. Throw on a shrug to protect your arms.

Avoid being outside during 10 am to 4 pm.

Opt for a waterproof sunscreen lotion with at least SPF 30 or more. The mantra is to apply it every 2 hours.

Cure:

For relief from painful and inflamed skin, you need to cool yourself down by using a shower or an oatmeal bath.

Opt for cooling after sun face gel to alleviate the skin damage.

To treat redness mix around 25-30 drops of essential oil (lavender) with almond oil (100 ml) and apply on the affected skin.

2. Mosquito Bites:

Summer season is mosquito season and they thrive everywhere, especially outdoors. Not only mosquitoes cause unsightly and itchy red welts on our skin, they are also harbingers of diseases.

Prevention:

Choose a DEET and children safe insect repellent. Odomos is a good spray. You can also use mosquito repellent bands and patches for kids.

Remove any stagnant water in and around your residence.

Cure:

The pain and itching can be managed with topical application of ice on the bitten area.

Essential oil, such as lavender can be applied on the bite. Use only 2 drops of undiluted oil for instant relief.

3. Prickly Heat:

Perspiration moistens the skin. The moist skin is a target for dirt and other impurities. They block the pores and lead to summer rashes and acne giving an appearance of small pimples.

Prevention:

Wear loose and comfortable cotton clothes that allow the skin to breathe and wicks away the sweat.

Avoid using heavy lotions that block the pores.

Don’t scratch your skin as it will inflame the skin.

Cure:

Try and reduce the sun exposure during the peak times of 10 am to 4 pm.

Use talcum powder to soak up the sweat.

Cleanse your skin without fail.

4. Summer Acne:

Summer means sweating and clogged pores. Sunscreen application further adds to the mix. Clogged pores lead to summer acne breakouts.

Prevention:

Keep your skin clean and dry by removing oiliness. Try clean and clear oil control face wash, which is hydrating and removes grime and excess oils.

Cure:

Opt for a cleansing, toning and moisturizing routine. Follow the cleansing with an alcohol-free toner

While moisturizing, opt for a cream that will control the oil on your skin. Also, opt for a sunscreen that is suitable for oily skin

5. Dry And Parched Skin:

The intense heat, exposure to sun and our need for air conditioning makes our skin dry. Lesser water intake makes the skin tight and parched.

Prevention:

Follow the mantra of drinking 8 glasses of water every day to hydrate the skin.

Moisturize your skin with a lightweight and water-resistant lotion and sunscreen. Ensure application and reapplication of sunscreen lotion.

Cure:

The cure lies in the application of an intensive repair night and day cream.

For dry hands and feet, apply the cream and opt for cotton socks and gloves to seal in the moisture.

You can even opt for a natural oil massage spiked with essential oils. Choose a carrier oil like almond oil (100 ml) and add up to 2 drops of geranium and 5 drops of lavender essential oil.

Now shoo away the skin maladies with the above mentioned summer skin care routine. And you are all set for fun and frolic.

This is for all those amazing ladies who cannot spend their entire day at beauty spas. We do understand how busy you could be throughout the day. However, a busy schedule should not be the reason of not taking enough care of your skin. Most of you must be thinking that cleansing, toning and moisturizing is enough. You might have clear skin with the help of daily skin care tips and fancy creams, but you need to do a little more to make your skin flawless and healthy. This can only be achieved through facials. And this is not a facial of any kind. I am talking about vegetable peel facials. They are absolutely effective for the skin. If you get this done at home twice a month, your skin will definitely get a major transformation.

Required Things To Make A Vegetable Peel Mask:

Gelatin
Vegetable juice (Cucumber or tomato depending on your skin type)
Rose water
Eggs (optional)
Method Of Preparation:

Here is a stepwise procedure to do the vegetable peel facial at home:

Step 1:

Take half a cup of gelatin along with one cup of vegetable juice (this depends upon the skin you have). If you have dry skin, use cucumber. If oily skin, then tomatoes should be a good option. Now combine the mixture together.

Step 2:

Heat gelatin in a clean pan and let it stay for the next 20 minutes. Wait till the gelatin has finally dissolved.

Step 3:

Now add the mixture you had just prepared.

Step 4:

Once you are done with that, pour the mixture in a bowl and place it in the fridge. Stir it quickly every 15 minutes. After 30 minutes, remove it from there.

Your pack is now ready!

Method Of Application:

Read the points that are mentioned below to apply the vegetable peel facial properly:

Now take a towel and wet it with warm water. Squeeze out the excess water and keep it on the face. You should be able to tolerate the temperature. This will help in opening up the pores of your skin.
You could also use rose water with cotton to wipe your face. Once you are done with that, take some gelatin and apply it all over your face.
Now gently apply the vegetable peel pack. It is advised to use eggs along with that. Apparently it brightens the skin tone and gives you a cleaner look.
Let it stay for about 20 to 30 minutes or until it is completely dried.
Once that is dry, gently peel the mask off your skin. Now this might take a little time, but it would be best if you are patient throughout the procedure.
After you are done with that, go ahead and wash your face with cold water.
If you would like to use a nice massage gel for the face, you could do that too for the next 10 to 15 minutes.
You could wash your face off with milk too. That should help!
Apply a cooling agent to get rid of any blackheads.
Now that you are done with the vegetable peel, take any face pack that suits your skin and apply all over the face.
Wash it off after 15 minutes. Use cucumber slices for the eyes.
